KING COUNTY, Washington State. Censorship lawsuit. Media consortium backs Fox News amid Coronavirus coverage lawsuit.

Fox News faces lawsuit by a less than three-year-old non-profit organization in Washington State called, the Washington League for Increased Transparency and Ethics aka “WashLight.”

The lawsuit claims some Fox News opinion hosts allegedly downplayed Coronavirus in TV coverage. By the end of the first quarter March 2020, Fox News reported the highest ratings in network history.

Left-oriented Media Defending Fox.

Also defending Fox News are two media consortium, NCTA and RCFP, which compose of generally politically Left-leaning news media organizations including ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MS-NBC, New York Times, Washington Post and many others.

The lawsuit was filed April 2, 2020 in the State of Washington [WASHLITE v Fox News et al Complaint (10pps)]. Fox News accepted the service for the lawsuit April 6th enlisting top lawyers to battle in court.

We think WashLight’s attempt to use the Courts to Whitewash a media organization will ultimately fail on Constitutional grounds.

The lawsuit as we see it, is an attempt to censor media’s First Amendment right to free speech which includes opinions – right, wrong or indifferent.

In a press release, Fox News sought to dismiss the lawsuit being heard in King County, Washington State, before Judge Hon. Brian McDonald.

“The motion to dismiss characterizes the WASHLITE complaint as a “frontal assault on the freedom of speech” that “flagrantly violates the First Amendment and fails to state a claim.””

Fox News Press Release, April 14, 2020.

The Plaintiff sought to remove Judge Hon. Ken Schubert hearing this case for alleged conflict of interest.

According to the Law & Crime blog, the Plaintiff’s (Washlite) lead attorney is also running for governor in Washington State as the Green Party Candidate for the upcoming November 2020 elections.
