149 Bank Failures in 2010

The FDIC seized three more failed banks today. All banks acquired by other financial institutions under FDIC approval and financial subsidized assistance. Interestingly enough, First Banking Center of WI was acquired by the First Bank of Michigan, where Motor State has the second highest unemployment rate in the country. Nevada has taken the #1 spot, and California #3.
The FDIC is also reportedly seeking criminal investigations of fifty former officials and employees of various failed U.S. banks since 2008 (Source: Market Watch).
